If you already have the call number of an item you're looking for, skip to the end of this article.  If you haven't searched yet, there are a few ways to start looking:

For one, you can use our library website and use the search bar there to look up any book you need. Any books that PSU holds should come up before any other, as long as you clicked on the "Books" icon before searching.

If you need any assistance with looking online, or you want to look for yourself in person, visit the Reference Desk in the library. Our contact information is listed to the right the search bar. We're happy to help!

An example of a book found in the library's collection:

To locate the book (or other item), you need these three things:

  1. The Availability: Shows you whether a book is available to borrow (or to use in the library)
  2. The Shelving Location: Shows you what floor and what general section to look for on those floors.  For example, Upper Level or Lower Level
  3. The Call Number: The specific identification code for the book. This is based on the system the Library of Congress uses.  In the example above, the call number is BF 1566 .G37 201
